People often ask me, “What exactly is hypnotherapy?”
This is what I tell them:
It’s a safe, effective therapeutic method that can help you get down to the root of practically any issue. The way this happens is by accessing the subconscious mind. Hypnosis may be an altered state of consciousness, but it’s also a natural state of being. It often happens when we’re engrossed in a movie or a book, walking in nature, driving on the highway, or doing something on “auto-pilot.” It’s a very familiar feeling. Having a guide present helps us to harness the power we have inside us.

Here’s how it works:
During the first session, you and I will get to know one another, discuss your goals, and estimate the number of sessions appropriate for you in your particular situation. Then we will start with an opening hypnosis session.
During hypnosis, I will guide you into a progressively relaxed state, similar to guided meditation, in which the conscious mind relaxes and your subconscious mind becomes accessible.
Sessions are generally about 90 minutes.
I offer house calls for sessions in the SF East Bay, as well as distance sessions over the Internet should that be preferred.

How long will it take to see a difference?
Hypnosis is a process that takes time. In order to make lasting change, you’ll likely need several sessions to reach your desired goals. However, hypnosis is a much faster process than other modalities because you are working directly with the subconscious mind. Our subconscious is a repository for all of our emotions, memories, fears, traumas, and where our behavioral patterns originate. When we get to the root of an issue, we are able to safely confront it, process it and ultimately heal.
Will I lose total control of myself?
A hypnotherapist doesn’t control you during the experience. You always maintain control. The power for change is only in your own mind.
